Diphu : In a significant development for rail connectivity in Assam’s hill districts, the Dibrugarh Town – New Delhi Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12423/12424) will now include a stop at Diphu Railway Station in the Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway, starting July 17, 2025.
This new stoppage has been approved following a request by Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Amarsing Tisso, addressing the long-standing demand for enhanced rail access in the region.
The Divisional Railway Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, Lumding Division, has invited MP Amarsing Tisso to grace the formal flagging-off ceremony at Diphu Railway Station on July 17, 2025, at 11:00 PM.
The inaugural stop of the DOWN Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12423) is scheduled to arrive at Diphu at 23:21 hours on the same day. The UP Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12424), originating from Dibrugarh Town, will arrive at Diphu at 02:24 hours on July 18, 2025. Both trains will halt for two minutes, as approved by the competent authority.
This new stoppage is expected to greatly benefit passengers in Diphu and surrounding areas and adjacent districts by providing direct access to one of India’s premier train services, connecting Assam to the national capital.
The Dibrugarh Town – New Delhi Rajdhani Express is a daily service known for its speed, comfort, and amenities, covering a distance of approximately 2,421 km in about 37 hours and 35 minutes from Dibrugarh Town to New Delhi.
The initiative reflects the commitment of Bharatiya Janata Party’s MP Amarsing Tisso to improve connectivity and cater to the needs of passengers in Assam’s hills division, ensuring better access to key destinations across the country.
