Silchar: Atiqur Rahman, a resident of Jiribam, has formally withdrawn the serious allegations he had levelled earlier this month against a senior surgeon at Silchar’s RE Hospital. On July 1, Rahman had filed an FIR at Ghungoor Police Outpost, accusing Dr. Eden Sinha of removing his genitals under the pretext of performing a biopsy.
In a significant turn of events, Rahman has now clarified that no such incident took place. In a video statement released recently, he admitted that the complaint and FIR were filed due to a misunderstanding and lack of proper knowledge about the medical procedure he underwent.
Rahman, who had been diagnosed with cancer in his urinary tract, stated that the surgical intervention carried out by Dr. Sinha was medically necessary and aimed at saving his life. “There was no negligence on the part of Dr. Eden Sinha. The surgery was done to treat my condition, and I am thankful for that,” he said.
He further confirmed that the treatment and surgery were conducted with the full consent of both himself and his family. “All necessary medical protocols were followed, and we were kept informed at every stage,” Rahman added.
The clarification brings relief to the hospital authorities and medical community, who had been facing intense scrutiny following the initial allegations. Dr. Sinha, known for his work in surgical oncology, has not responded publicly but sources at RE Hospital expressed satisfaction that the truth has now come to light.
