Third Spine Surgical Camp Begins at Assam University

SILCHAR : The third Spine Surgical Camp has commenced at Assam University in collaboration with The Spine Foundation (TSF), Mumbai. The camp began on Friday and will continue until Sunday, July 20. The inauguration ceremony was held at 3:30 PM in the university’s PMG Hall.

Present at the event were renowned spine surgeon and TSF founder Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, TSF trustee and spine surgeon Dr. Sheetal Mohite, Roskandi Tea Estate manager I.B. Ubhadia, Dr. Suman Dhar, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Dr. Alfarid Hossain, and Assistant Professor of Statistics Dr. Vivek Verma.

Dr. Bhojraj shared that TSF was established in 1998 and currently has six trustees. Over the last 18 years, they have conducted surgeries across nearly every state in India. He thanked Dr. Sujit Kumar Nandi Purkayastha, Dr. Dhar, Dr. Verma, and the entire healthcare team for their dedication. He noted that TSF is among the fastest-growing medical foundations in the country.

Dr. Vivek Verma explained that preparations for the camp began during the summer break in June after meeting with Dr. Bhojraj. The first and second camps were held in November last year and this April, respectively. He credited Assam University officials and JJIMS for their support.

I.B. Ubhadia emphasized the importance of physical and mental well-being, while Dr. Sheetal Mohite described the experience as “enlightening.” Dr. Alfarid Hossain highly praised the camp, calling it one of the best in his two-decade-long academic career.
