Silchar: Widespread allegations of irregularities have surfaced in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Silcoorie Dharmkhal GP, with local residents claiming that around 50 to 60 poor families have been unfairly excluded from the benefits of the housing scheme due to a manipulated geo-tagging process.
According to villagers, nearly three months ago, Arjun Das a representative of the former president of Dharmkhal GP along with GP member Sakhi Mohanmalla Das, carried out geo-tagging of around 60 houses under the PMAY scheme. However, when the final beneficiary list was published, only two names appeared both allegedly relatives of the former GP president.
Residents allege that this deliberate exclusion has deprived dozens of genuinely deserving families in the area, raising serious questions about transparency and fairness in the implementation of the central housing scheme.
The issue has sparked deep resentment in Ward No. 9 of the GP, where, villagers claim, no individual has received any PMAY benefits till date. The aggrieved residents have now demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against those involved in the alleged malpractice.
Locals have also urged the district administration and higher authorities to intervene immediately to ensure justice for the affected families and to uphold the integrity of government welfare schemes.
