Silchar: In a heartwarming initiative under the ‘One District One Activity’ programme of Lions District 322G for the month of July, the Lions Club of Silchar Valley View organised an engaging and entertaining Summer Camp for underprivileged children on Saturday at the Udayan Sangha Playground in Malugram, Silchar.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 85 pre-selected children who were treated to a vibrant day filled with games, competitions, and cultural activities. Club President Bandita Trivedi Roy and Project Chairperson Debashree Choudhury led the initiative, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for the children.
Among the highlights of the camp were recitation and song competitions, where the young participants showcased their talent and creativity. A series of lively events including musical chair, running contests in different categories, as well as friendly cricket and football matches kept the energy levels high throughout the day.
Adding cultural charm to the camp was a performance of the world-famous Bengali Dhamail Dance, which emerged as the star attraction of the day-long festivities. The club distributed tiffin boxes and balls to the children as “gifts of love,” while refreshments including fruit juices, snacks, chocolates, and cakes were also served to all attendees.
Lions Club Secretary Anup Roy, along with members Minara Laskar, Subir Dey, Sibu Das, Pushpabati Roy, and noted social worker Amar Das, were actively involved in coordinating and engaging with the children, contributing to the day’s success.
Guiding Lion of the Club, Sanjeev Roy, expressed his satisfaction over the successful execution of the Summer Camp and acknowledged the collective efforts of the club members. He also extended his gratitude to the officials of Udayan Sangha Club for their support in providing the playground for the event.
