Imphal : In a landmark recognition for Manipur’s healthcare, hospitality, and tourism sectors, Dr. Thangjam Dhabali Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of the BABINA Group of Companies, has been conferred the prestigious Life-Time Achievement Award 2025 by the Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamil Sangam (MTTS), Chennai, in association with the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur.
The award was presented on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Swamy Vivekananda Auditorium, IIIT Mantripukhri, Imphal, by Professor N. Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, in the presence of Dr. N. Murugan, Founder Chairman of Thiruvalluvar, and Prof. Krishnan Baskar, Director of IIIT, Manipur.
Dr. Dhabali received the honour in recognition of his exceptional contributions as a doctor, medical entrepreneur, and promoter of initiatives that have transformed Manipur’s healthcare, hospitality, and tourism landscapes.
As the founder of the BABINA Group, Dr. Dhabali has built one of the most extensive healthcare networks in the region, encompassing hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and a state-of-the-art cancer institute. His ventures have created employment opportunities for over 1,250 professionals and significantly enhanced access to advanced healthcare for the people of Manipur and neighbouring states.
In the hospitality sector, through the Classic Group of Hotels, Dr. Dhabali has been a driving force behind Manipur’s modern tourism industry.
His tenure as the founding president of the Manipur Tourism Forum saw initiatives such as the establishment of the Imphal Peace Museum at Maibam Lotpa Ching in 2019, developed in collaboration with the Nippon Foundation, Sasakawa Peace Foundation of Japan, the Japanese Embassy, and the Government of Manipur.
The museum commemorates the Battle of Imphal while promoting peace, reconciliation, and cultural exchange.
Throughout his career, Dr. Dhabali has been the recipient of numerous awards for public service, entrepreneurship, and support for sports. The Life-Time Achievement Award 2025 stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to service, excellence, and the holistic development of society.
The ceremony also recognised eminent scientists and performing artistes, underscoring the event’s celebration of excellence across diverse fields.
