Northeast India is like a wonder-filled green letter on the map of India – a land of unheard melodies, unseen forms, and endless possibilities. This eight-sister region of eight states – Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim – each stands with its own distinct identity; yet their combined stream is one – the indescribable beauty of nature.

Assam is a very suitable destination for tourists due to its natural beauty, rich culture and historical places. The state has world-class wildlife sanctuaries like Kaziranga and Manas National Parks. The Kamakhya Temple on the Nilachal Hills in the heart of the state’s main city, Guwahati, is not only a religious place, but also a symbol of female power; the flow of folklore still comes alive there on the stone.

The state has several large lakes – Kamla Sagar Lake, Rudra Sagar Lake, and Dumbur Lake. There are also numerous small and large lakes in different parts of the state. This ‘Mata Tripura Sundari Temple’ is located in Udaipur in the south of the state of Tripura. The Tripureshwari Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. According to folklore, the right foot of Sati fell here. Here Shakti is worshipped as ‘Tripura Sundari’ and Bhairava is worshipped as ‘Tripuresh’.
