We want to strengthen Industry Association, says Anurag Bajpai

Imphal : There is an important need for strengthening the Industry Association to connect them to other associations, echoed Anurag Bajpai, Additional Chief Secretary (Textile, Commerce& Industries and Transport), Government of Manipur, at the sidelines of the Manipur Global Buyers And Sellers Summit 2025, inaugurated by the Governor of Manipur last Friday. 

He stated that the Buyer-Seller Summit is important as it will provide an opportunity to showcase the industrial strength of Manipur products, and that the government is looking to connect local entrepreneurs with Southeast Asia. 

Bajpai said that ‘we need modes of communication; we are looking at international connectivity in cargo service; Railways up to Imphal will be reaching very soon, and we also need to develop logistic services.

He mentioned that the Imphal Airport is already ready with a cargo terminal, and now the time has come to connect the same with international destinations.Handloom and agricultural products, natural medicine, and biofuel from Bamboo are the focus areas that the Government would like to give special focus.

We are trying to bring in Industries from outside and also integrate local entrepreneurs in the supply chain so that they also become partners in the whole industrial ecosystem, the Additional Chief Secretary informed. 

We are also trying to develop an industrial estate in each district of Manipur and strengthen the local industries, and provide them with facilities like industrial estate, local sheds and marketing platforms to provide inner strength, he disclosed.

This Business Summit is a restart from the setback of the last two years, echoed Anurag Bajpai.

With the theme ‘Bridging Business Sans borders’, the two-day event was organised in Imphal under the RAMP initiative of the Ministry of MSME. Jointly organised by the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries, Manipur Industrial Development Corporation Limited (MANIDCO) and Manipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) had three Plenary Sessions where experts from Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Assam Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business leaders, academecians and government officials deleberated.

A Souvenir was also released on the occasion, and a video presentation on the potential of Manipur’s industrial strength was showcased. A stall for entrepreneurs was also made available during the summit.

The summit ended with a beautiful rendition of local music and a fashion show showcasing Manipuri Handlooms and creations, enticing the delegates and invitees.
