North East Integration Rally
Silchar: Debraj Chakraborty, a noted landscape, travel, and architectural photographer from Silchar, Assam, has joined the North East Integration Rally 2026 as its official photography documenter, adding significant creative depth to the upcoming trans regional initiative.
Chakraborty’s journey into photography began well before he ever held a camera. Trained initially as a landscape painter, he was deeply influenced by light, form, and nature’s ability to shape emotion. Photography emerged as a natural extension of that curiosity, first as an accessible tool and eventually as a lifelong pursuit. Today, he is widely regarded as one of India’s most evocative landscape visualists.
Currently a Nikon India Expertive and a mentor for NiSi Filters, Chakraborty is known for his ability to capture fleeting moods, subtle shifts in light, and the quiet drama of diverse landscapes.
His work has earned him two wins at the prestigious DJ Memorial Photography Contest and recognition from the Chief Minister of Meghalaya for his contribution to promoting tourism through photography.
His photographs are displayed in respected institutions across India, while his images and writings regularly feature in leading books, magazines, websites, and calendars. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation within the Indian photography community, admired for both his artistic discipline and his commitment to visual storytelling.
In August 2025, his work was showcased in a Special Temporary Exhibition titled Through the Viewfinder: Four Visions, organised by the Directorate of Museums, Assam, to mark World Photography Day at the Assam State Museum, Dighalipukhuri, Guwahati.
As part of his association with NEIR 2026, Chakraborty will not only document the rally but also organise a series of photography workshops in both online and physical formats. He will develop a dedicated team of photographers and interns from across the North East to cover the rally comprehensively.
Various photography competitions during the rally will also be coordinated and managed under his supervision, along with a team of regional resources.
Post NEIR 2026, Chakraborty will serve as a consultant resource to KRC Media School, where he will contribute to content development for an upskilling initiative focused on visual media and storytelling.
In addition, a photography exhibition featuring his work is scheduled to be showcased at the Barak Festival on January 24 in Silchar. Plans are also in place to produce a documentary on NEIR and to create a rich archival platform under his leadership, ensuring the rally’s visual history is preserved with depth and artistic integrity.
His inclusion in NEIR 2026 is being seen as a major creative boost, aligning the rally’s larger vision of integration and cultural exchange with a strong, thoughtful visual narrative.
