Silchar: The ten-day Assam Book Fair in Silchar concluded on Wednesday evening at the Zubeen Garg Memorial Auditorium at Police Parade Ground in Silchar. The event opened with a Ganesh Vandana followed by a Rabindra Sangeet performance, which set a warm tone for the audience.

Pramod Kalita, writer and secretary of Assam Prakashan Parishad, attended the ceremony. He spoke about the joy of being part of the fair and expressed deep respect for readers and authors. He stressed the need to build a strong reading habit among the younger generation.
Assam University Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, and noted writer-researcher Dr. Amalendu Bhattacharjee were also present.

Prof. Pant said that people in Barak Valley show remarkable enthusiasm for education. With so many writers and poets here, a larger book fair will always encourage richer intellectual engagement.
Dr. Amalendu Bhattacharjee added that books are a person’s best companions. A fair that brings together so many genres is a gift for readers, and he encouraged the culture of gifting books on important occasions.
As the ceremony drew to a close, guests handed prizes to the winners of the drawing, poetry recital, dance, and music competitions. The event became a vibrant meeting place for literature and culture, inspiring book lovers to explore new works with fresh enthusiasm.
