Book Fair will be held at Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium

Silchar: There is no substitute for books. To cultivate the habit of reading, a collective effort is necessary. Nowadays children and adults alike are drawn more toward mobile phones and social media. In this context, parents must take the initiative to attract the younger generation toward books.
On Friday, at the residence of language activist Paritosh Pal Choudhury in Subhas Nagar, Silchar, these points were emphasized at a meeting of the 33rd Silchar Book Fair Committee. The meeting was chaired by committee chairman Haran Dey, where it was unanimously decided that the 33rd Silchar Book Fair will be held at Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium. The traditional 33rd Silchar Book Fair will be inaugurated on December 14 at 4 pm at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium.

At the meeting, the welcome address was delivered by General Secretary Biplab Pal Choudhury. He informed that this year’s book fair will feature publishers from Kolkata, Guwahati, Agartala, along with local publishing houses. An appeal will be made to the district administration and the state government’s Department of Culture for financial support. He also called upon citizens from all walks of life to extend their cooperation to make the book fair a success.
