Silchar: The Cachar District Administration will commemorate the death anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary “Bard of Brahmaputra,” with a grand tribute at the Police Parade Ground today. The event will be graced by Kaushik Rai, Minister of FPD and CA, Government of Assam, as the chief guest.

In a heartfelt gesture to keep alive the spirit and legacy of Dr. Hazarika, the programme will feature a collective rendition of his timeless song “Manush Manusher Jonno”—a melody that captures the universal message of humanity, compassion, and unity.

At 3:00 PM, voices from across the district—students, artists, officials, and citizens—will come together in chorus, symbolizing one of the largest mass musical tributes ever held in Cachar.

With five thousand voices singing one song, the event stands as a powerful reminder of Dr. Hazarika’s enduring message that music can unite hearts beyond all divides.
