District Administration and Health Department Provide Quality Healthcare to 6,923 Patients Under Assam Government’s Outreach Initiative

Silchar: The District Administration, Cachar, in association with the Health Department, Assam, organized the 5th Mega Health Camp at Hilara Block Headquarters M.E. School Playground under Katigorah LAC on Thursday as part of the ongoing Seva Hi Samarpan Sewa Saptah programme.

The event was attended by Katigorah MLA Khalil Uddin Mazumder, District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav, IAS, Additional District Commissioner (Health) Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, ACS, Zilla Parishad President Kankan Narayan Sikdar, Katigorah Circle Officer Robert Talor, ACS, Assistant Commissioners Junali Devi, ACS, Funlalgir Chorai, ACS, Deepa Das, ACS, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Shibananda Roy, and other senior health officials.

Addressing the gathering, Katigorah MLA Khalil Uddin Mazumder expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister of Assam for launching such a visionary initiative aimed at delivering inclusive healthcare to every citizen. He praised the government’s plan to screen children for 59 diseases, calling it a transformative move toward building a healthier generation.

The MLA also commended the efforts of the District Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Health Department, Principal of SMCH, and all supporting departments for their coordination in making the camp a success.

District Commissioner Mridul Kumar Yadav, IAS, congratulated the Health Department for their strong effort in reaching out to rural and underserved communities with quality medical care. He noted that this was the fifth Mega Health Camp organized in Cachar under the Seva Hi Samarpan initiative and reaffirmed the District Administration’s commitment to fully support upcoming camps to ensure that the Chief Minister’s vision of last-mile healthcare access is realized.

“The overwhelming public response reflects growing trust in government-led healthcare programmes,” he added.

Earlier, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Shibananda Roy, in his welcome address, spoke about the purpose and spirit of organizing such health camps as part of the Seva Hi Samarpan Sewa Saptah, commemorating the birthday of the Prime Minister of India. He thanked the Chief Minister for conceptualizing and implementing large-scale health camps across the state.

Dr. Roy also mentioned that in the next two phases of the Sushruta Setu programme, patients referred from these camps will receive specialized treatment at higher centers, including SMCH. He urged parents to ensure their children attend the upcoming medical screening and follow-up sessions.

The 5th Mega Health Camp at Katigorah, held in celebration of the Prime Minister’s birthday, recorded a massive turnout with 6,923 patients receiving treatment and 552 referred for advanced care under the Sushruta Setu initiative.
