Diphu : In a major development toward establishing a Sainik School in Karbi Anglong, a high-level delegation from the Advisory Committee for Supervision and Monitoring, constituted by the Government of Assam, conducted an on-site inspection at Langvoku, located nearly 24 kilometers from Diphu
The team was led by Lieutenant General (Retd.) Rana Pratap Kalita, Chairman of the Committee, accompanied by other distinguished members, Major General (Retd.) Bhaskar Kalita, Brigadier Sena Medal (Retd.) Ranjit Borthakur, and Brigadier (Retd.) Palash Choudhury.
The visit was also attended by top officials of Assam Government and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC). Prominent among the state officials were Pranjal Choudhury, ACS, Joint Secretary, Department of Education, Government of Assam, and the Chief Engineer of PWD (Buildings).
The council was represented by Principal Secretary Mukul Kumar Saikia, IAS, and Deputy Secretary Ibon Teron, ACS, during the inspection along with engineers, architects, and officials from the Land & Revenue Department.
During the visit, the team reviewed the site layout prepared by the Chief Engineer’s office and physically surveyed the proposed location for the upcoming Sainik School. The site encompasses a 133-acre plot allotted by KAAC and falls under the purview of Clause 5.1 (Annex-II) of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) 2021, approved by the Ministry of Defense, Government of India.
The delegation also assessed the site’s accessibility, including its connectivity to nearby highways, airports, railheads, and medical facilities key considerations for the viability of such an institution.
Officials stated that the establishment of the Sainik School in Langvoku marks a milestone initiative aimed at promoting quality education infused with discipline and nationalistic values among the youth of Karbi Anglong and adjoining areas.
