Silchar: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has appointed Ahmed Sahid Barbhuiya as the new president of its Cachar district unit of Krishak Parishad, the party’s farmers’ wing.
The appointment, made on the directive of the central president of Krishak Parishad, relieves Iqbal Hossain from his earlier responsibilities and entrusts Barbhuiya with the leadership role.
Party leaders and functionaries welcomed the decision, voicing optimism about the new president’s ability to strengthen AGP’s base in Cachar while addressing the concerns of the farming community.
AGP Central Committee general secretary and Barak Valley in-charge, Bimalendu Sinha, Cachar district secretaries Manitun Sinha and Sujit Sharma, Minority Parishad central general secretary Ayesha Sultana Choudhury, Sharika Azmi Barbhuiya, and advocate Riazul Hoque Barbhuiya, among others, extended their support and confidence in his leadership.
