Classes to resume from June 9

SILCHAR: In light of the ongoing waterlogging in several interior areas and the continued operation of school buildings as relief shelters for flood-affected citizens, the Cachar District Administration has extended the closure of all educational institutions across the district.

As per the official order issued by the office of the Additional District Magistrate, Cachar, all schools—government, provincialised, private, and venture—will remain closed on Friday, 6th June 2025.

The administration’s earlier directive dated 3rd June had initially ordered the closure of schools, and today’s extension follows the worsening ground situation caused by persistent rainfall and flood conditions. With Saturday, 7th June, being a government-declared holiday in observance of Idd-uz-Zuha, and Sunday falling on a weekend, educational institutions across the Cachar district will now resume regular classes from Monday, 9th June 2025.

This precautionary step has been taken in the larger interest of public safety and to ensure that relief efforts for flood victims can continue unhindered. The order has been issued with immediate effect and bears the approval of the District Magistrate, Cachar.
