Silchar: The District Sports Association (DSA) will open its new Anindita-Samiran Art and Cultural Training Centre on Saturday at 3 pm at the cricket pavilion on its premises.

Announcing the programme at a press meet on Friday, DSA president Shibabrata Dutta said the centre is meant to encourage cultural activities alongside sports, offering training for young talents in different art forms. He acknowledged the financial support of Samiran Bhattacharjee in setting up the initiative.

General secretary Atanu Bhattacharjee said the inaugural function will feature a cultural programme including Rabindra Sangeet, ballet dance, a play by Aajker Projonmo Theatre Group, dhamail and Nazrul Geeti. Playwright Chitrabhanu Bhowmik will be the chief guest and inaugurate the centre.

Cultural branch secretary Pronob Kalyan Dey, who also represents Poobalee, and assistant general secretary Ajoy Kumar Roy invited the public to attend the ceremony.
