Students from all classes took part with visible excitement

Silchar: The six-day annual sports week of Daffodils School, Silchar, concluded on Saturday with a vibrant closing ceremony at the Itkhola Football Ground, marking the end of a week filled with competition, enthusiasm, and spirited participation by students across age groups.
The concluding programme was attended by guests of honour Shibabrata Dutta, Dilip Ranjan Nandi, Ashutosh Roy, Mrinal Kanti Roy, Sajal Laskar, Pranab Banik, Ratan Singh, and Chandan Singh. School principal Subrata Dey, chairperson of the Daffodils Educational Trust Amalendu Dey, president Mitali Dey, managing executive trustees Nabendu Dey, Dibyendu Dey and Rajshree Dey, along with secretary-cum-vice principal Babi Dutta Dey, were also present. The guests were felicitated by the school authorities during the second phase of the programme.
This year’s sports week featured a broad mix of track, field, indoor, and fun events, including ribbon race, chocolate race, hit the target, running race, basket the ball, arithmetic race, cone race, Chinese checker, carrom, ludo, chess, long jump, cricket, football, and kabaddi. Special attractions included fun races for parents and teachers, along with a friendly cricket match between them, which drew loud cheers from the audience.
Students from all classes took part with visible excitement, showcasing not only athletic skill but also discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the week.
Addressing the gathering, the guests emphasised the importance of sports in holistic education, noting that physical activity plays a key role in building confidence, resilience, and leadership qualities alongside academic learning. In support of local sports development, the Daffodils Educational Trust presented a token financial contribution to Ratan Singh, president of the Itkhola Athletics Club.
The prize distribution ceremony marked the highlight of the final day. Neeraj Chopra House was declared overall champion, while Dhyanchand House finished as runners-up. Bhaichung Bhutia House and Sachin Tendulkar House also delivered strong performances across events.
The Trust authorities commended the commitment and coordinated efforts of the teaching and non-teaching staff in ensuring the smooth conduct of the sports week. Babi Dutta Dey expressed gratitude to the local community and the Itkhola Athletics Club for their continued support.
