Cachar students of Classes I–VIII urged to apply by October 5

Silchar : The Office of the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer has invited applications for the Pre-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste (SC) students studying in Classes I to VIII in Government Educational Institutions of Assam for the academic session 2025–26.
Eligible students from Cachar district are required to apply through the Head of their respective schools. The completed forms, duly verified and forwarded by the concerned Inspector of Schools, D.I. of Schools, D.E.E.O. or B.E.E.O., must reach the office of the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer by October 5, 2025.
The prescribed application form can be downloaded from the official website of the Directorate of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Government of Assam (directorwsc.assam.gov.in), under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment.
As per the guidelines, the annual income of parents or guardians should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh from all sources. Applicants must submit the form along with self-attested copies of three essential documents:
- Front page of a joint bank account passbook with one of the parents,
- Valid caste certificate, and
- Annual income certificate issued by the Circle Officer.
After collecting the applications, the Heads of Institutions will prepare a consolidated list of candidates and forward it, along with original forms and supporting documents, to the office of the Sub-Divisional Welfare Officer.
The scholarship scheme is designed to support SC students by reducing financial hurdles in their pursuit of education.
