Silchar: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be on a two-day visit to Barak Valley on August 31 and September 1 to attend a series of programmes in Silchar and Patharkandi.

According to the schedule, the Chief Minister will reach Silchar on August 31 and begin his visit with a darshan at the historic Kachakanti Temple in Udharbond at 2:30 pm. He will then unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Rangirkhari, followed by a public meeting at 3:15 pm. Later in the day, he is slated to inaugurate the statue of freedom fighter Mangal Pandey at 4:45 pm.

In the evening, Dr Sarma will visit the residence of late Kamalendu Bhattacharjee, former Member of Parliament, at 6 pm before proceeding to Silchar Tennis Club.

On September 1, the Chief Minister will travel to Patharkandi in Karimganj district for a series of official engagements. He will return to Silchar after the programmes and depart for Guwahati the same day.
