Silchar: Assam University paid a heartfelt tribute to the world poet Rabindranath Tagore on his 84th death anniversary, marking the occasion with solemn and reverential events. The tribute program began with floral offerings at the Rabindra Central Library of the University in front of Tagore’s statue, attended by university dignitaries including the Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sivasish Biswas, Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath, Finance Officer Dr. Subhadeep Dhar, other professors, students, and staff.
Events held at the Premendra Mohan Goswami Hall featured speeches highlighting Tagore’s life philosophy and poetic contributions by university scholars and poets. The program also included soulful performances of Rabindra Sangeet by faculty members from the Performing Arts and Social Work departments, as well as poetry recitations by researchers and staff, celebrating Tagore’s literary genius.
The day’s commemorations reaffirmed Tagore’s enduring influence on literature, music, and culture, inspiring the university community to cherish and propagate his humanistic vision and artistic excellence.
