Silchar: Prof. Joyeeta Deb Choudhury of the Department of Business Administration at Assam University, Silchar, presented her research on the indigenous weaving traditions of Northeast India at the Adani Global Indology Conclave held on 21 November in Ahmedabad.

Her poster, titled The Living Threads: Stories of Indigenous Looms from North East India, was featured at the national event organised in association with Indian Knowledge Systems under the Ministry of Education. The conclave, hosted by the Adani Group, focuses on promoting the study of India’s civilisational knowledge, languages, arts, and cultural heritage.

Prof. Choudhury’s work was selected through a competitive all-India review process conducted in October. Her presentation explores the cultural importance of traditional loom communities across the Northeastern states while addressing the economic challenges they continue to face.

By showcasing these living traditions on a national platform, her research brings wider attention to the rich but often overlooked textile heritage of the region and strengthens its place within the growing conversation on Indology and Indian Knowledge Systems.
