Dr. Amit Kumar Das formally handed over the Association’s condolence letter to Garima Saikia Garg

Guwahati: In a gesture of respect and condolence, a delegation from the Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) visited the residence of the late musical legend Zubeen Garg at Kahilipara on Tuesday.
Led by AUTA Secretary Dr. Amit Kumar Das, the delegation included Dr. Dristirupa Patgiri, Assistant Professor in the Department of Law, Assam University. The team conveyed the deep sorrow of the teaching community over the untimely demise of the iconic singer, describing his loss as an irreparable void in the cultural life of Assam and the Northeast.
During the visit, Dr. Amit Kumar Das formally handed over the Association’s condolence letter to Garima Saikia Garg, wife of the late artiste, expressing the solidarity and sympathy of the entire Assam University fraternity.
The delegation also met Zubeen Garg’s father, Kapil Thakur, and shared words of comfort with the grieving family. They assured them of the University community’s emotional support in this time of profound loss.
Earlier, the Assam University Teachers’ Association had held a condolence meeting on campus immediately after the singer’s passing, where it was unanimously decided that the condolence letter would be presented in person to Garima Saikia Garg.
