Silchar: The Assam University Students’ Union (AUSU) elections concluded successfully on Monday with the announcement of results and the formal certificate distribution ceremony held at the Bipin Chandra Pal Seminar Hall.

The newly elected AUSU team for 2025 was felicitated by the Election Commission led by Chairman Prof. C. R. Bhattacharjee and Returning Officer Prof. Anindya Syam Choudhury, who handed over the certificates to the winning candidates after the final counting wrapped up earlier in the evening.

Rajkinkar Chakrabarty has been elected as the President of the new students’ union, while J. Basumatary took charge as Vice President, elected uncontested. Kaushik Dasgupta won the post of General Secretary, and Mimamgsha Koiri and Arpan Chakraborty were elected as Assistant General Secretaries (Female and Male) respectively.

In other key posts, Amaan Shah was elected uncontested as Cultural Secretary, Arup Das as Magazine Secretary, and Samar Kant as Sports Secretary. Following the announcement, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty extended his congratulations to the newly elected members, lauding the peaceful and democratic conduct of the polls.

The 2025 AUSU election marked another successful exercise in student democracy at Assam University, reflecting active participation and enthusiasm across departments.
