Sribhumi: For four days, Sribhumi lived and breathed culture. Music, dance, and shared effort came together as Barak Festival 2026 unfolded with warmth and purpose.

The festival grew out of the Sanghati Yatra started by the KRC Foundation. The idea was simple. Bring people together. Celebrate unity, harmony, art, culture, trade, work, and brotherhood across the North East. On the ground, that idea felt real.

People from different language groups gathered. Performances followed one after another. The mood stayed festive and full of pride.

One performance stood out. Kanchana Roy of Kaliganj took the stage and held the audience in silence. Her dance was sharp, graceful, and deeply felt. The applause did not stop there. Word spread fast. Media coverage carried her name beyond Sribhumi.

To mark her success, officials of the Barak Festival later visited her home in Kaliganj. It was a quiet but meaningful moment. She was honoured with an uttariya, a memento, and a certificate. Shrabani Pal, Dhrubajyoti Dhar, Arpita Kar, and others were present during the felicitation.

The festival also remembered the people behind the scenes. In another programme, those who worked day and night to make the four-day event a success were honoured with mementos. Several artists were also felicitated for their dedication and contribution.

Respect was not limited to the festival ground. On the same day, Khushi Smriti Sanstha honoured Partha Sarathi Das, Principal of Badarpur N.C. College. The felicitation was led by President Sulekha Dutta Choudhury, Executive President Soumitra Paul, Advisor Subrata Choudhury, Barak Festival Committee President Asit Dutta, Secretary Mrityunjay Chakraborty, along with other members.

Barak Festival 2026 did more than host events. It created moments. It connected people. And for Sribhumi, it left behind a feeling that culture still has the power to bring everyone closer.
