Silchar: Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday inaugurated the Assam Secretariat for Barak Valley in Silchar, marking what officials described as a major step toward strengthening administrative services in the region.

The newly opened secretariat is expected to make government services more accessible for people across Barak Valley. With key administrative work being handled locally, residents are likely to experience quicker processing of official matters and easier access to government departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the initiative would help improve coordination among departments and make governance more efficient in the valley. The facility is aimed at reducing the need for people to travel long distances for administrative work.
Leaders and residents welcomed the development and expressed gratitude to Sarma for what they described as a significant step toward the region’s overall progress.
Officials said the establishment of the secretariat is expected to play an important role in accelerating development and improving the delivery of public services in Barak Valley.
