Silchar: The Barak Valley Sarvadharma Samannay Sabha’s Central Executive Committee felicitated Minakshi Sharma, daughter of late journalist Malin Sharma, in recognition of her outstanding performance in the CBSE Higher Secondary Examination. The meritorious student, who secured 85 percent marks, was honoured at a brief yet heartfelt ceremony held at at Jail Road in Silchar.
Minakshi’s journey has been one of resilience and inspiration. Having lost her father, a respected journalist, her achievement has been hailed as a symbol of determination, evoking emotional responses from many in the community.
During the ceremony, Minakshi was presented with a traditional scarf (uttoriyo), a certificate of appreciation, and gift items. The event was graced by several prominent figures including H.M. Amir Hussain, Central General Secretary of the Samannay Sabha, Kalyan Kumar Chakraborty, founding member of the Cachar Cancer Hospital, educationist Abdur Rahman Laskar, and social worker Tuhinkanti Ghosh.
Addressing the gathering, Kalyan Kumar Chakraborty said, “Minakshi is upholding the ideals her father stood for. We wish her continued success guided by honesty and dedication.”
An emotional Minakshi, while accepting the honour, expressed her heartfelt gratitude and sought blessings from all present. Her ailing mother, Seema Sharma, also conveyed her deep appreciation for the Sabha’s humanitarian gesture and appealed for continued support from society.
Speakers at the event underlined that Minakshi’s success belongs not just to her family but to the entire Barak Valley, serving as a beacon of hope and pride for the region.
