Diphu : To boost green energy and sustainable development, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Goal Gas Pvt. Ltd. to set up the first-ever bio fuel refinery in Northeast India on Friday.
The plant will be set up in Karbi Anglong district, but the location has not been finalized yet. The memo was signed at the council’s secretariat, where Chief Executive Member of the council Tuliram Ronghang, executive members, Principal Secretary of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, and Goal Gas Pvt. Ltd. DGM (North-East) Raju Mitra along with other company officials were present.
The plant will use agricultural waste and natural biomass for production of eco-friendly bio fuel. This scheme is likely to generate local employment, support farmers, and reduce dependence on conservative fossil fuels.
An exclusive mark of this bio fuel is price benefit; Goal Gas Pvt. Ltd. announced that petrol and diesel will be sold at Rs 2 less than the prevailing market price. Besides generating rural livelihoods, suppliers of raw materials will additionally get Rs 5.00 per liter reduction on fuel.
