Diphu :  The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has took-over the strongest bastion of the principal opposition party of Assam’s hilly region i.e. All Party Hills Leaders Conference. In the stunning political maneuver ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, the party captured the native village of All Party Hills Leaders Conference chief Jones Engti Kathar  Phonglangso, located in the Tika area of West Karbi Anglong yesterday.

Over 300 die-hard supporters of All Party Hills Leaders Conference led by APHLC organizing Secretary Starlin Beypi, joined the BJP through a mass joining event.

The newcomers were taken into the party fold by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang and Member of Lok Sabha Amarsing Tisso and senior BJP leaders of the district. The event amply indicates paradigm shift in support of the saffron party.

Addressing the gathering, Tuliram Ronghang restates the need for impartial development along with the passive continuation of the demand for the implementation of Article 244(A) of the Constitution. He criticised Kathar for misleading the youth with what “false motivation,” declaring that only the ruling party can bring concrete development and employment opening in the district.
