Katigorah: A young political leader from Katigorah died by suicide late Sunday night, casting a pall over the area. Satyajit Das, 24, who had recently taken charge as president of the BJP Katigorah Mandal Yuva Morcha, was found dead at his home in Katirail village on November 30.

Police and forensic teams reached the site soon after receiving the information. Officials conducted preliminary checks and, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, sent the body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Das had assumed his organisational role only a month ago. What drove him to take such an extreme step is still unclear, and investigators say they are looking into all angles.
