Silchar: On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder and Bharat Kesari Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the BJP Madhya Shahar Mandal organised a series of programmes on Sunday under the directives of the party.

As part of the day-long observance, a discussion session on the illustrious life and contributions of Dr. Mukherjee was held in the morning at the residence of Mandal vice president Poli Bhattacharjee. The session was presided over by Mandal president Hirak Choudhury.

In their remarks, speakers including Mandal vice president Debashish Shome, Rathindra Nath Saha, Pran Krishna Paul, and Rajdeep Das reflected on Dr. Mukherjee’s supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of India.

Several other Mandal functionaries, including Nipendra Narayan Thakur, Sanjay Roy, Madhumita Sharma, Hemanta Debnath, Atasi Chakraborty, and Jayita Dey were also present.

To mark the occasion, a tree plantation drive was also conducted by the Mandal. The drive saw participation from functionaries across all levels of the Mandal, including representatives from various ward-level Shakti Kendras. Additionally, Dr. Mukherjee’s birth anniversary was observed with due solemnity at various booths under the Mandal.
