Silchar: To pay tribute to the countless lives lost and the immense sacrifices made during the Partition of 1947, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday organised a nationwide Silent March. The initiative, observed under the banner ‘Horrors of Partition’, saw participation from party workers and leaders across the country.
In Silchar, the event drew a massive turnout under the aegis of BJP Cachar, with senior leaders leading the march in solidarity. Minister Kaushik Rai, former MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLAs Mihir Kanti Shome and Dipayan Chakraborty, MP Parimal Suklabaidya, and Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha were among the prominent faces present at the gathering.
Carrying no slogans or banners beyond the message of remembrance, participants walked in silence through key streets of the town, symbolising respect for those who endured the trauma of Partition. Party leaders reiterated that such observances are essential to ensure future generations remain aware of the sacrifices that shaped independent India.
