Silchar: The Election Branch of the Office of the District Commissioner, Cachar, successfully conducted a three-day training programme for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from July 14 to 16, across various venues in the district. The initiative aimed to strengthen the functioning of the electoral process at the grassroots level.
Over 1,375 BLOs from all seven Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of Cachar participated in the sessions, which were designed to enhance their understanding of electoral laws, procedures, and voter facilitation mechanisms.
The training covered key topics such as the effective management of the Electoral Roll, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Summary Revision of Electoral Roll (SSR), and provisions of the SIR-2005 guidelines. The sessions were led by a team of experienced Master Trainers, including Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Block Development Officers (BDOs), and other senior officials.

District Election Officer and District Commissioner commended the dedication of the BLOs and the training teams, highlighting the importance of such capacity-building initiatives in ensuring free, fair, and inclusive elections.
The training marked a significant step towards improving field-level electoral processes in Cachar ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
