Silchar/Lakhipur: The 53rd birth anniversary of beloved artist Zubeen Garg was observed with blood donation camps organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party in both the Silchar and Lakhipur Assembly constituencies on Sunday. The events drew senior leaders and community members who came together to honour the late musician through the act of service he inspired.

In Silchar, the camp was inaugurated in the presence of district president Rupam Saha, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, MP Kanad Purkayastha and several party leaders. Speakers highlighted the significance of donating blood in memory of an artist whose life and work touched people across Assam.
A similar programme was held in Lakhipur, where Minister Kaushik Rai joined district president Rupam Saha and other leaders at the inauguration. Organisers said the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to turning Zubeen Garg’s birthday into an occasion for public welfare.
The Assam-wide observance was taken up on the direction of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia. Party leaders expressed deep gratitude to both, along with the health department and BJP workers, for ensuring that blood donation camps were organised across the state.
Participants described the effort as a meaningful tribute, noting that donating blood is a true gift of life and a fitting way to remember an artist who remains cherished in every Assamese household.
