Silchar: The Cachar district administration has stepped up efforts to fast-track key infrastructure works under the Bharat Mala Project. Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav, IAS, chaired a high-level land acquisition meeting at the DC office on Thursday to resolve long-pending issues holding up progress.
Senior officials from the administration, NHIDCL representatives, and departmental stakeholders joined the discussions. The review focused on the Silchar–Badarpur–Churaibari Package-1, including land clearance at Srikona, settlement of defence estate land issues at Tarapur, and relocation of government and private institutions needed for the project’s execution.
The Panchgram and Badarpur bypass projects under Package-2 and 3 were also taken up, with emphasis on expediting the additional 3G report. Challenges at Karaikandi, tied to the Badarpur bypass, were discussed in detail.
Other matters included land and compensation issues affecting Rongpur High School and Rongpur Police Outpost under the Silchar–Vairengte Package-1. The meeting also reviewed compensation disbursement, additional fund requirements, and approvals for 3A, 3D, and 3G reports linked to the Silchar–Vairengte Package-2.
By steering this review, the DC underlined the administration’s commitment to removing roadblocks and ensuring timely completion of these nationally significant projects. The exercise reflected a proactive approach, tighter coordination among departments, and a clear push to strengthen connectivity and economic growth in the Barak Valley.
