Silchar: The Cachar District Administration on Friday organised a live streaming of the speeches of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to mark the birth centenary of former Assam Chief Minister Golap Borbora.
The programme, held at the new Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Silchar, was attended by District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, IAS, along with senior administrative officials including Dr Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, ACS; Hemanga Nobis, ACS; Phyllis Hrangchal, ACS; Assistant Commissioner Unhale Ashish Vidyadhar, IAS; and Deepa Das, ACS, who also serves as in-charge of DDIPR Barak Valley Zone.

Staff of the DC’s establishment, personnel of DDIPR, and members of the media fraternity also joined the event.
In their speeches, Amit Shah and Himanta Biswa Sarma paid rich tributes to Borbora, recalling his integrity, leadership, and pioneering role as Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister. They underlined his vision for socio-economic upliftment and his enduring contribution to Assam’s democratic journey.
Officials present at the programme also reflected on Borbora’s legacy, describing him as a leader who left a lasting imprint on the state’s political and administrative history.
The district administration thanked all officials, staff, and media representatives for their active participation in organising the commemorative event.
