24×7 emergency health control room activated with precision and purpose

SILCHAR : In a significant demonstration of proactive governance and disaster readiness, the Cachar District Administration has launched a round-the-clock Flood Control Room under the Health Department to ensure immediate response and uninterrupted healthcare support in the face of mounting flood threats.

Spearheaded by the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services, Silchar, this move reflects a meticulous and timely strategy to safeguard public health during monsoon-related adversities.

The control room, now fully functional from the Joint DHS Campus in Silchar, serves as a command hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and rapid deployment of health resources across flood-affected areas of the district.

With a dedicated helpline ,9394615401 ,the facility ensures open lines of communication between the public, field-level health workers, and district authorities. Operational 24×7, the control room is manned by a carefully curated team of health personnel working in three shifts, ensuring no gap in service delivery.

Frontline health workers such as Nomita Rani KurmiAnanya NathAnjali ChoudhurySankar Sinha, and Nishad Zabed are anchoring the morning shifts with dedication and preparedness. Their early-hour vigilance is expected to play a pivotal role in managing the day’s first emergencies and logistical tasks.

Taking over the charge in the afternoon are dedicated field workers including Sulata Das and Soumit Dey, whose efforts are crucial during peak hours when calls for support typically surge.

The night hours, often the most challenging in emergency operations  are entrusted to the likes of Biswajit BoraPaniel Lalzerlien TulorPeter Renthlei, and Dhananjoy Rudrapaul, who are trained and equipped to maintain uninterrupted vigilance till dawn.

The roster is further strengthened with rotational duties of committed personnel such as Debasish DasBasilius D. SangmaBinod GoalaBidyut Das, and Lalfakzuala Khawral ,all stationed strategically across vulnerable pockets of the district. Their on-ground presence is a reassuring signal of the administration’s foresight and its priority towards community health protection.

All deputed staff have been directed to report promptly and remain stationed at their posts until formally relieved by their successors, creating a seamless relay of responsibility. This level of discipline and coordination marks a new benchmark in disaster preparedness, reflecting the district administration’s resolve to leave no room for lapses when it comes to public welfare.

The initiative is a sterling example of how governance, when rooted in planning and human resource mobilization, can preempt crises and cushion communities from seasonal hardships. 

The Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, Dr Shibananda Roy has appealed to the public to avail the helpline during emergencies, reiterating that timely intervention can save lives.
