Silchar: The Cachar District Administration, along with the District Disaster Management Authority, is asking residents, government staff and frontline workers to start using the Smart Axom mobile app. The platform, created by the Government of Assam, delivers real-time alerts and early warnings during emergencies across the state.

Smart Axom is built to help people prepare and respond more effectively when disaster strikes. The app gives GPS-based information on relief centres, hospitals and other essential services, making it easier for users to find the nearest support point during a crisis. Its geospatial tools guide residents to these locations with clear navigation.
The app also shows live weather data including rainfall, humidity and temperature forecasts, helping people keep track of changing conditions. It includes key emergency contacts, helpline numbers and details on vital infrastructure so that users can quickly access reliable support when they need it most.
The district administration has encouraged everyone in Cachar to download and use the app to stay informed and strengthen community safety. The app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users can simply search for Smart Axom, install it and complete a quick registration using their mobile number.
The administration notes that widespread use of the app will improve disaster readiness and help build a safer, more resilient district.
