Silchar: In a dignified tribute to the region’s cultural heritage, the Cachar district administration on Friday honoured four distinguished artists with artist pensions and the esteemed Barxik Silpi Sanman for the financial year 2024–25. The ceremony, held at the office of the District Commissioner, brought together cultural custodians and celebrated talents from across the district.

Cachar DC Mridul Yadav personally presented the certificates to the recipients in the presence of Assistant Commissioner and in-charge, DDIPR, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, Deepa Das, Cultural Development Officer, Snehangshu Shekhar Roy and Assistant Nazir, Bikash Dutta.

This year, Rabindra Lal Roy was awarded the artist pension (Regular), while Barxik Silpi Sanman was conferred on Nripen Kumar Das, Nandini Chakraborty, and Bimalendu Sinha. The honours reflect the administration’s ongoing commitment to acknowledging and supporting the artists who nurture and sustain Cachar’s vibrant cultural legacy.

Mridul Yadav commended the invaluable contributions of the honoured artists, noting that their dedication not only preserves the district’s cultural identity but also serves as an inspiration for younger generations to engage with and uphold the arts. The ceremony, marked by warmth and reverence, underscored the administration’s resolve to foster artistic growth and celebrate creative excellence.
