Silchar : In a major anti-narcotics operation, Cachar Police intercepted a vehicle at Rongpur and seized 21,600 bottles of cough syrup valued at approximately Rs 2.16 crore. Two peddlers were apprehended in connection with the case.

According to police sources, the vehicle was coming from a neighbouring state when it was stopped based on credible intelligence. The massive haul marks another strong step in Assam Police’s ongoing drive against the illegal drug trade.

Officials said the operation reflects the department’s continued vigilance and commitment under the state government’s mission to make Assam drug-free. Further investigation is underway to trace the supply network and identify others involved in the trafficking route.
