Guwahati: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has expressed full readiness to ensure a safe and peaceful environment during the upcoming assembly elections in five states, Director General GP Singh said on Thursday.
He stated that the force has already begun extensive coordination with the Election Commission, state governments, and local police units to ensure smooth conduct of the polls. “We are fully prepared. Several rounds of discussions have been held with the Election Commission as well as with the concerned state administrations and police forces,” Singh said.
Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. As the national nodal agency responsible for the deployment of central paramilitary forces, the CRPF will play a crucial role in maintaining law and order and ensuring that voting takes place without disruption.
Referring to Assam’s polling schedule, Singh noted that some political parties have demanded that elections be conducted in a single phase.
“We are prepared for whichever format the Election Commission decides. Whatever directions are issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, we will implement them accordingly,” he added.
The CRPF is expected to work closely with state police forces on ground deployment, area domination, confidence building measures, and protection of polling stations to ensure free and fair elections across all five states.
