Silchar: A daring daylight robbery in Jilani Choudhury Lane, near Kathal Point in Silchar, has sparked serious concern among residents. On Friday, a gang of thieves targeted two adjacent houses, broke open cupboards, and made away with gold ornaments and cash. The incident occurred while the homeowners were away, allowing the miscreants to operate without resistance.

The victims, Abdul Hannan Choudhury and Ahad Hussain Laskar, lodged formal complaints at the Rangirkhari Police Outpost following the incident. Police reached the spot and initiated a preliminary investigation.

What has intensified public anxiety is the fact that this is the second such incident in the same lane within a span of just four days. Despite this, no arrests have been made yet, raising questions about the effectiveness of local law enforcement.

Sources in the police department said that CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being closely examined. However, as of now, no suspects have been detained.

Local residents fear that an organised gang may be targeting the area, and have urged the police to step up patrolling and take swift action to restore a sense of security in the neighbourhood.
