Officers, staff, artists and former colleagues gathered at the DDIPR premises to honour her contributions

Silchar: The Office of the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, held a warm and dignified farewell on Saturday for Dr. Juri Goswami, Manager-cum-Producer (Cultural Wing), marking the close of a long career dedicated to cultural promotion and public communication.

Officers, staff, artists and former colleagues gathered at the DDIPR premises to honour her contributions. Dr. Goswami began her journey as a Cultural Staff Artist in Guwahati in 1988 and went on to represent the department in government cultural programmes across the region and several states. Her artistic skill, steady leadership and commitment to regional heritage shaped the cultural initiatives of the department for decades.

Assistant Commissioner and In-Charge of the DDIPR Barak Valley Zone, Deepa Das, said Dr. Goswami’s discipline, creative clarity and ability to guide artists made her an invaluable part of the Cultural Wing. Das also noted the warmth and simplicity that earned her deep respect within the department.

UD Assistant Manimoy Dey recalled her supportive nature and meticulous work ethic, adding that her absence would be felt across the office. Former cultural staff member Dilip Sinha spoke about their long association, describing her as a considerate colleague who always encouraged teamwork and upheld the ethos of cultural expression.

In her farewell remarks, Dr Goswami expressed gratitude to the DDIPR family and reflected on the experiences she gathered over her decades of service. She thanked officers, staff and artists for their constant support and extended her best wishes for the department’s future.

The ceremony ended with heartfelt felicitations as colleagues marked the close of an era for the DDIPR Cultural Wing.
