Silchar: A wave of shock and concern gripped residents of Sabajpur in the Saidpur area after a decomposed unidentified body was recovered from the Boaljur canal on Saturday morning.
According to sources, local residents spotted the body lying beside the canal and immediately informed the Rangirkhari police outpost. Responding swiftly, police personnel along with the district magistrate rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. It was later sent to the morgue at Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Initial reports suggest that the body may be at least two to three days old. However, the identity of the deceased is yet to be established. Police officials said that an investigation is underway to determine whether there are any injury marks or signs of foul play.
The mysterious circumstances surrounding the recovery have led to speculations among locals, many of whom fear the incident could be the result of a planned murder. Police have registered a case and begun a thorough probe to unravel the truth.
