Hailakandi : Despite severe floods affecting parts of Hailakandi district, the people of Algapur constituency observed Eid-ul-Azha with religious devotion and community spirit.
In line with celebrations across the country, festive prayers were held at over a hundred Eidgahs and mosques in the region, including prominent locations like Algapur Bazar Masjid, Kapnarpar, Uttar Barnagad, Padmarpar Masjid, Boalipar Eidgah, Naoriyarpar, Mohanpur, Uttar Narayanpur, Uttar Kanchanpur Janki Bazar, Ujankupa, Chakchandpur, Borjorai, Chandpur, and Bashbari.

The largest Eid congregation in the area took place at the Bashbari Part 2 Eidgah Ground , where hundreds of worshippers gathered from surrounding areas like Bhatikupa, Chowdhury Bazar, Islampur, Khas Bashbari Grant, Bashbari 1, Chandipur Grant localities.
The prayers, led by Maulana As-Saad, assistant teacher at Jamia Tayyibia Islamiya Madrasa of Hailakandi, were followed by brief sermons highlighting the significance of Eid and the values of sacrifice. Renowned religious scholars Maulana Jalal Hussain Laskar and Maulana As-Saad also addressed the gathering.
Community fundraising was held in support of local madrasas like Bashbari Qoumiya and Bhatikupa Hafizia Madrasa. In a notable social initiative,Shamim Choudhury (Bapan), youth social activist and representative of the NGO Rural Development and Social Service Organisation (RDSSO)and BRDSSF NGO, distributed Eid food kits to flood-affected and underprivileged families, showcasing a strong example of humanitarian spirit during the festivities.

Several dignitaries were present at the Eid prayers, including former Algapur Zila Parishad Member Representative Dilwar Hussain Choudhury, former GP President Representative Moynul Haque Choudhury, Islamic scholar Maulana Jamal Hussain Laskar and newly elected Panchayat Representative and youth leader Shamim Choudhury (Bapan).Another significant Eid congregation took place at Matirgram Eidgah, led by Maulana Altaf Hussain Choudhury, and was attended by former Algapur Block Panchayat President Abdul Malik .
Despite the challenges of waterlogging and flood-related disruptions, the community demonstrated unwavering faith, unity, and resilience. This year’s Eid-ul-Azha in Algapur stood as a powerful symbol of brotherhood, compassion, and spiritual strength amidst adversity.
