Silchar: In a significant push towards local infrastructure development, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty on Thursday laid the foundation stones for two vital road construction projects under the Public Works Department (PWD), aimed at improving connectivity and civic amenities in the city.
The first ceremony was held at Smriti Lane on the National Highway, where the new road project is estimated to cost Rs 16 lakh. The event saw the presence of prominent local figures, including President of the Lane Development Committee Dilip Kumar Dey, Dr. Malay Kumar Das, Tapash Pal, Dr. Apurba Nath, and BJP New Silchar Mandal Vice President Kajal Roy.

Later in the day, Chakraborty also laid the foundation stone for the road construction work of Das Colony’s Rash Bihari Bose Lane.
The project, which falls under the same department, carries a budget of Rs 11.45 lakh. Among those who joined the MLA at the occasion were Mandal Vice President Kajal Roy and former Municipal Commissioner Asim Das, along with other community members.
