Silchar: A one-day district-level capacity building workshop on Bal Sabha under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme was held on Wednesday at Gandhi Bhawan, Silchar. The programme was organised by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti Cachar, Department of Women and Child Development, Cachar, in collaboration with the District Administration and with technical support from Independent Thought, a UNICEF partner.

Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav attended the programme along with Additional District Commissioner (WCD) Phyllis Hrangchal and Dr. Sandip Roy, representative of the Joint Director of Health Services.

The technical session on Bal Sabha was conducted by Jahirul Choudhary, Assistant Manager, Independent Thought, who underlined the need to strengthen children’s voices in governance and ensure their participation in decision-making.

The workshop offered key insights to stakeholders on promoting child rights and enhancing the effective functioning of Bal Sabhas for holistic child development.
