Conference held at Twelve Step Foundation

Silchar: Organised by Pratha Trust, with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Govt. of India) under My Bharat, GEG Global Foundation, Twelve Step Foundation (De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre), and Rotary Greenland, the Drug-Free Youth for Developed India conference was held on Sunday at the premises of the Twelve Step Foundation’s de-addiction and rehabilitation centre.

The programme began at 4 pm with over 60 participants, including more than 50 resident members of the center and staff.

Speakers addressed various perspectives on addiction prevention and rehabilitation. Professor Dr. Madhumita Dhar Sarkar, Dean of the Department of Law, Assam University, explained the role of law and education. Dr. Darshana Patoa, CMO of Assam University, discussed the treatment of addiction and its psychological effects.

Entrepreneur Biswajit Paul highlighted the use of health technology, while social worker and lawyer Saurav Chakraborty stressed the importance of social responsibility in the fight against substance abuse.

Deep Bhattacharjee, founder and secretary of Twelve Step Foundation, spoke about rehabilitation initiatives. Shubhabrata Ranjan Das shared his inspiring journey of recovery from addiction, and Soumitra Palit, secretary of Rotary Greenland, explained the role of the Rotary Club in social service.

The programme concluded with an interactive session.
