Diphu : A 70-year-old karbi woman was crushed to death by a wild elephant in West Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday, a police officer said.
The deceased has been identified as Kasang Kropi by local police, who was returning from a religious congregation along with a group of women when they came across a herd of wild elephants at Hijunglangsang village within Jirikideng police station area.
One of the elephants from the herd trampled her to death while the other women somehow fled from the spot. The body was later sent to Diphu Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem, informed the officer in charge of Jirikideng police station.
