Silchar: The Flyover Demand Committee has welcomed the Chief Minister’s announcement of the flyover inauguration programme scheduled to be held in Silchar on March 14. Speaking at a press conference at the Silchar Press Club on Saturday, members of the committee thanked the government for moving ahead with the plan and stressed once again the urgent need for a flyover in the town.

The committee said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may lay the foundation stone of a development project in the Barak Valley for the first time. They described this as a major moment for the region. Advocate Prathama Dutta Choudhury alleged that certain local elements are trying to create obstacles in the construction process. She also raised concern over the delay in implementing the project.

Members of the executive body stated that their movement will continue until the foundation stone is laid and the flyover construction is completed.
